The Open Source Circular Economy Days (OSCE Days) is a diverse & globally distributed event using Open Source methodology to build a Circular Economy. The event happened simultaneously in 33 cities in 25 countries.
Local events were organized by local groups, focusing on local challenges.
I had the opportunity to join the London event and contribute to bring the Brazilian perspective to the discussion.
The idea is to bring experts and innovators from the fields of open source hardware, software, data, design, circular economy, waste, resource management and the collaborative economy to work together, globally connected, in order to develop, exchange ideas and prototype systems, products and designs for an Open Source Circular Economy.
I have joined the team that worked on the challenge of getting people to recycle more. How can we get community involvement? How do we increase recycling rates?
We have discussed for hours on the recycling barriers, shared experiences and good practices. It was a great learning for me specially to hear about the recycling challenges in London and how we could learn from them and bring ideas to Brazil. So, after a few hours we come up with the idea of developing a Recycling Challenge app that incorporated aspects of Facebook, gaming techniques and a ability to get messages directly to the council.
So, watch out for our Recycling Challenge App!!! Any investors interested in developing a Brazilian version?
